Goodbye Lunin.. There will be a big signing next summer: Courtois’ replacement

This is a surprising move, considering that, in principle, this position does not need strengthening. However, the club’s management is clear in its desire to bring in the new goalkeeper, aiming to establish him as the future number one at Real Madrid.

True to its tradition of long-term planning, Real Madrid has already started thinking about next season to strengthen the squad as much as possible under Carlo Ancelotti. One position that stands out is, notably, the goalkeeper spot.

Thibaut Courtois remains Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper, although he is currently sidelined due to injury, with Andriy Lunin playing in his place. The Ukrainian goalkeeper renewed his contract this summer until 2030, but his situation could change next year.

The fact that Courtois is still Real Madrid’s number one could push Lunin to seek a move in search of more playing time, which is why the club is already considering bringing in a young and promising replacement.

According to information from the Spanish newspaper “Defensa Central”, the club has set its sights on Lucas Chevalier, the 22-year-old goalkeeper from Lille.

Chevalier impressed in the Champions League match against Real Madrid and is one of the goalkeepers on Juni Calafat’s radar, with the scout considering him to have a bright future.

The problem for Real Madrid, however, is that several clubs are also interested in signing him, most notably Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester City has also shown interest, with Pep Guardiola reportedly looking for a replacement for Ederson Moraes.

According to the Transfermarkt website, Chevalier is currently valued at 25 million euros, and he is under contract with Lille until 2027.
