Liverpool achieved a valuable victory over its guest, Real Madrid, with two clean goals in the match that brought the two teams together on Wednesday evening at Anfield Stadium, at the conclusion of the fifth round of the Champions League group stage for the current season.
Liverpool moved to 15 points, at the top of the Champions League standings with a perfect record, while Real Madridโs points remained at 6, in 24th place.
Real Madrid suffered its third loss in the Champions League this season, following defeats to Lille of France and Milan of Italy in the previous round, which has worsened the teamโs chances of advancing directly from the top 8.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper โDefensa Centralโ, one of the most upset Real Madrid players tonight was star Fede Valverde, who did not wait for the end of the match before beginning to criticize the teamโs star players.
The newspaper indicated that Valverde blamed French player Kylian Mbappรฉ, holding him largely responsible for Real Madridโs loss against Liverpool, as well as the other defeats the team has suffered this season.
The Uruguayan player believes that Mbappรฉโs missed easy chances were a key reason for the teamโs successive losses, in addition to the penalty kick miss that could have brought the team back into the match.
The newspaper added that Valverde harshly rebuked the French star, and coach Carlo Ancelotti intervened to separate the players. However, Valverde did not stop and reportedly asked the coach to exclude Mbappรฉ from the squad for the upcoming matches.
The newspaper concluded by stating that the atmosphere at Real Madrid is not good, and it appears that Ancelotti has lost control of the teamโs dressing room.
